Educational Qualification

TNPSC Group 4 Age Limit
Age is calculated as on 1 July 2026. Minimum and maximum ages vary according to the post and the candidate's reservation category.

Reservation-based age concessions apply according to the notification. For example, the VAO maximum age is 40 years for the listed reserved communities, while several other posts have different limits.
The notification also explains that "no maximum age limit" is subject to its prescribed 60-year condition. Candidates should consult pages 5–8 for complete age tables, including concessions for eligible persons with benchmark disabilities, ex-servicemen and destitute widows.
Application Fee and One Time Registration

The ₹150 One Time Registration fee is for candidates creating a new OTR account. A successfully completed OTR remains valid for five years.

Candidates should carefully select their fee-concession option. Incorrect exemption claims may lead to rejection and other action under TNPSC rules.
TNPSC Group 4 Exam Pattern 2027
The examination consists of a single objective-type paper using OMR answer sheets. The total duration is three hours.

Important qualifying rule: Candidates must obtain at least 40%, equivalent to 60 marks, in Part A. Parts B and C will be evaluated only if this requirement is met. The notification also specifies an overall minimum qualifying mark of 90 out of 300 for all communities.
Eligible candidates with disabilities who studied English only as a subject at Board or University level may claim the prescribed exemption from the Tamil test and opt for General English (SSLC standard), subject to the notification's certificate requirements. The 60-mark qualifying condition also applies to that paper.

Selection Process
Selection is based on the written examination and the applicable verification and counselling procedures. Certain forest posts require additional physical standards and endurance tests.
