Question Areas to Compare Across MQP 1 to MQP 5

Several broad themes appear in more than one of the five model papers. Students can strengthen their preparation by comparing how questions are framed across the papers.

  • Election-related questions: Election Commission, political parties, electoral reforms and electoral processes.
  • Nation-building questions: Integration of states, national unity and obstacles to nation-building.
  • Public administration questions: Civil services, UPSC and administrative institutions.

These repeated themes are useful for revision but should not be interpreted as predictions of the actual board examination questions.

How to Prepare Using Political Science MQP 1 to MQP 5

Step 1 – Start with MQP 1: Attempt the paper within three hours. Pay attention to one-sentence answers and correct question numbering.

Step 2 – Review your weak areas: Identify topics that are difficult to explain and revise them using your textbook and class notes.

Step 3 – Practise MQP 2 and MQP 3: Focus on writing organised answers for 2-mark and 5-mark questions. Use appropriate terms, facts and examples.

Step 4 – Attempt MQP 4: Practise the longer explanations in Parts C and D. Divide answers into an introduction, main points and a short conclusion wherever appropriate.

Step 5 – Complete MQP 5: Solve it as a final mock examination. Review your timing, answer structure and coverage of different topics.

After completing all five model papers, use previous-year Political Science papers to gain additional practice.
