What to Practise in the Numerical Sections

A substantial portion of the Accountancy model examination involves calculations, accounting entries and statement preparation. Students should practise writing the complete working, not only the final answer.

For partnership problems, revise profit-sharing adjustments, goodwill, revaluation, retirement and dissolution. For company accounts, practise share and debenture journal entries along with financial statement formats.

For analysis-based questions, practise comparative statements, common-size statements, accounting ratios and cash flow classifications. Check dates, percentages, ratios and rupee amounts carefully while solving each problem.

How to Prepare Using Accountancy MQP 1 to MQP 5

Step 1 – Start with MQP 1: Attempt the paper within the examination time limit. Write working notes and use proper account formats.

Step 2 – Review your mistakes: Identify errors involving calculations, journal entries, account balancing and statement presentation.

Step 3 – Practise MQP 2 and MQP 3: Focus on the 6-mark problems and revise the concepts needed for each answer.

Step 4 – Attempt MQP 4: Solve the paper independently. Practise the 12-mark questions with clear workings and suitable account headings.

Step 5 – Complete MQP 5: Treat it as a final mock examination. Check whether you can complete the selected answers within three hours.

After finishing all five papers, practise older Accountancy examination papers for additional revision.
