CBSE Private Candidate Form 2027: Class 10 & 12 Registration, Last Date, Fees and Eligibility
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the private-candidate application process for the Class 10 and Class 12 Main Examinations 2027. Eligible candidates can apply online through the CBSE private-candidate portal.
The normal application period is 8 to 23 October 2026. Applications submitted from 24 to 30 October 2026 attract an additional late fee. Candidates should read the notification for their class before choosing an application category.

Important: Fee payment must also be completed within the prescribed period. An application submitted without the required payment will not be treated as complete.
Who Can Apply?
CBSE accepts private-candidate forms under specified eligibility categories. The uploaded Class XII notification lists the following:
- Essential Repeat: Candidates declared Essential Repeat in the 2026 Class XII examination.
- Compartment: Eligible candidates placed in Compartment in the 2026 Main or Supplementary Examination.
- Earlier Fail/Essential Repeat: Candidates from the specified examination years 2021–2026, subject to the notification's conditions.
- Improvement of Performance: Eligible candidates who passed the 2026 examination and wish to improve their marks in permitted subjects.
- Other permitted cases: Certain candidates who completed the regular course but could not appear in 2026 due to circumstances specified in the notification.

Class 12 Private Candidate Form 2027
For Class XII, CBSE's Annexure 1 explains eligibility for Essential Repeat, Compartment, Improvement of Performance and other permitted cases.
Candidates seeking Improvement of Performance must have passed in 2026 and must comply with the applicable subject restrictions. Candidates under the Compartment category must follow the conditions specified for the 2026 examinations.

Examination Fees for Candidates in India
The Class XII notification lists the following charges:

Fee clarification: ₹320 is the fee for an additional subject, not necessarily the total examination fee. The payable amount depends on the candidate's category, subjects and location. Candidates should check Annexure 4 and the final fee displayed on the official portal.
Class X candidates should follow the fee schedule in their separate notification. CBSE also specifies different fees for candidates in Nepal and other countries.
How to Apply Online
- Visit the official CBSE website and open the private-candidate application facility for Main Examination 2027.
- Select Class X or Class XII, as applicable.
- Choose the correct eligibility category.
- Enter the required previous examination details.
- Review the candidate's name, roll number and other particulars.
- Select the permitted subjects and examination city.
- Upload the required photograph and signature according to the instructions.
